England have turned a corner when it comes to Test Cricket as they have adopted Bazball which was famously founded by their Test head coach Brendon McCullum. England have played Test matches in the fourth gear just like how they have played One Day Cricket. They have got some fantastic results at home and also against Pakistan and New Zealand.

Ashwin had strong views over the use and implementation of the technique and said that the method will not be applicable in a certain types of conditions and it is not a one size fits all approach. England have done very well in Test Cricket with this approach and McCullum and Test captain Ben Stokes said they will embrace this method and use it to the fullest.

We will know only if this approach works in due course – Ravichandran Ashwin

“We now have a concept called Bazball. England is playing high-paced Test match cricket. They want to play a certain style of cricket. But in certain types of wicket, when you try and attack every ball, you will falter. There are both advantages and disadvantages to this approach,” Ashwin said as quoted by NDTV. Ashwin has been a match-winner for India in Test cricket he has picked up 463 wickets for India.

“Some will ask instead of defending and getting all out for 100, I will slog it out and get all out for 140. We will only know when the game pans out that the approach works or not. Sometimes, on the wicket, conditions need to be respected. If you respect the pitch and play accordingly, the pitch will also respect you. If you respect the pitch, it will pay you dividends,” The India off-spinner added.

Ashwin has been helping India with his heroics with the ball as the Indian Test Team have taken a 2-0 lead against Australia in the four-match Test series. Ashwin picked up eight wickets in the first Test match and he picked up six wickets in the second Test match at Delhi. The third and fourth Test matches will be played at Indore and Ahmedabad respectively.
