Ravi Shastri has weighed in on West Indies’ performances against India. Team India secured a mammoth series win against West Indies in both ODIs and T20Is. In the ODIs, the Shikhar-led Indian team managed to clean sweep the Caribbean 3-0. Shikhar Dhawan became the only captain to clean sweep Men in Maroon at their home.

Ravi Shastri said in a show on the Fancode app that the West Indies players are so good in the Indian T20 League. He added that they fail at international matches and it baffles him to understand what goes wrong. The former India player asked Mohammad Kaif for his opinion too.

“Kaifu, you played Indian T20 League for so many years. They play in the Indian T20 League, and they are so impressive. Toh inka problem kya hai? Vo West Indies ke liye kyun nahi khelte? Have you talked to them?” Shastri questioned Kaif.

Mohammad Kaif replied that they do well in the Indian T20 League because it offers them a lot of money. He added further that it gives them fame too. “The issue is that they get a lot of matches to play abroad. They can get fame and money. So that’s the difference. I also think that their former cricketers weren’t successful in convincing these players (to give time to the West Indies),” Kaif added.

Kaif added that it was Pollard who set up the strong team. He opined that the Caribbean all-rounder succeeded in his stint as a captain and managed to put up a strong team on board. West Indies won only one match in the whole India tour and it was the second T20I.

The Men in Maroon will be up against New Zealand for a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series. But the Caribbean can not be underestimated going into the 20-20 World Cup as they have won it twice. West Indies will hope to replicate the same intent this year too and make a strong comeback in the international arena.
