Ranking top 7 unlucky Indian cricketers
Cricket is a sport where it is not easy to play international cricket in some of the most competitive teams like India, Australia, England, and Pakistan. Due to the immense talent pool, one must be very special in terms of skill sets. Along with talent and skills, the players must back them up with good performances in international cricket.
Sometimes, the demand is so much that even some of the best stats in first-class cricket cannot get you into the teams. Some do not live up to the expectations and some just belong to the wrong era, where special cricketers were born. Many Indian cricketers were scapegoats for these lost opportunities.
Let’s look at the most unfortunate Indian cricketers:
7. Karun Nair
The 31-year-old was one of the biggest names in the mid-2010s. The swashbuckling batter scored truckloads of runs in domestic cricket. In Karnataka, Nair played one of the key roles in the success of the team during the mid-2010s, when the team won the Ranji Trophy titles. Nair scored a triple hundred in the final of the 2014/15 Ranji final.
The number of Nair in domestic cricket helped him to get into the Indian team. In 2016, Nair shined with the bat and made his presence felt in international cricket with a sensational 303 against England. It was the final test of the series against England in Chennai and India was trailing by 477 runs in the first innings.
Nair scored an unbeaten 303 in just 381 balls and helped India to post a total of 759 runs on the board. The middle-order batter became only the second Indian batter to score a triple hundred in Test cricket. Unfortunately, Nair played only 3 Tests after his famous knock and did not get a chance to represent India again.
