From 1996 to 2014, Kartik played a lot of cricket for his domestic team. In 203 matches, Kartik claimed a whopping 644 wickets at a bowling average of 26.7. In List A cricket, Kartik claimed 249 wickets in 194 matches at a bowling average of 28.3. In T20s, Kartik claimed 109 wickets in 146 matches at an economy of just 6.72.
The left-arm off-spinner played 46 matches in international cricket. In Tests, Kartik played 8 matches and claimed 24 wickets at a bowling average of 34.17, at an economy of 2.55. In ODIs, Kartik claimed 37 wickets in 37 matches at a bowling average of 43.57, including a 6-wicket haul.
In the only T20I match of his career, Kartik bowled an economical spell and conceded 27 runs in his 4 overs spell. In 2007, Kartik claimed 6/27 in Wankhede stadium against a team like Australia which had star batters like Andrew Symonds in their lineup. Unfortunately, the left-arm orthodox spinner did not play a lot of cricket for India.
