PV Sindhu took on Michelle Lee for the Gold medal match at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Monday. PV Sindhu came into the game after defeating Jia Min Yeo of Singapore in the semis. The Badminton star was yet to win a Gold Medal in the Commonwealth Games. And, on Monday, she defeated Michelle Li of Canada to create history. She won the match in two straight games 21-15, 21-13.

PV Sindhu and Michelle Lee were switched on for the big occasion right from Game 1. Sindhu started with a lead in a grand fashion with three points to her name. Michelle li came back strongly to make it 4-4 in no time. The Badminton star was carrying an injury she suffered in the semi-final game but still managed to play throughout the course of the game.  The first game was totally even at 4 apiece and then Lee took 3 straight points on the trot and but Sindhu came back strongly to make it 8-7.

At the mid-game break, Sindhu took an 11-8 lead and there was no looking back for Sindhu from there on. Moving further, she managed to claim a 15-9 lead pretty quickly. The star shuttler went on and clinched the first game 21-15.

The stadium went into ruptures. Sindhu dictated the play in game 2. She started strongly and took a 4-2 lead. The 27-year-old went on further and made it 9-3. Michelle Li managed to spring a comeback and but couldn’t outclass her opponent.

At one stage, she was behind by only 3 points when the second game was evenly poised at 14-11. However, Sindhu dominated the play, thereafter, and finished the game in the second set only. She emerged victorious in the second game 21-13.

The star shuttler has done beautifully for India at the big events. With her tall reach, the pace generated on the smashes are a treat to watch. She has, once again, shone brightly for India and has made every Indian proud. There is no denying that more and more boys and girls would be encouraged to take the great sport of badminton after seeing her inspiring performance.
