The Asia Cup will be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Four games will be held in Pakistan and nine of them will be played in Sri Lanka. When we look at the multilateral tournament, it will be played in the ODI format after a gap of five years. India last won the Asia Cup in 2018 under the leadership of Rohit Sharma in the final against Bangladesh. The Men in Blue will want to show that they can become Kings of Asia once again.

Ahead of the Asia Cup, Team India had a big jolt ahead of the continental tournament as KL Rahul although recovering well from injury, will not be playing the first two games of the Asia Cup. Ahead of the big game against Pakistan, it remains to be seen who will be able to replace the Karnataka batter in India’s ranks. Let us take a look at who could be three probable replacements for him for the first two Asia Cup fixtures. Rahul was picked in the Asia Cup squad as a wicketkeeper.

3. Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma has made an impression in the T20Is against the West Indies. He scored 174 runs in seven matches with the highest score of 51. Even though the Andhra lad has shown he can handle the goods in T20Is, he has yet to play the ODIs. If he gets the nod in the Asia Cup, then he would want to make a very good impression. He brings in a wonderful temperament along with being a left-hander. If he comes in then Ishan Kishan or Sanju Samson needs to don the gloves.
