Delhi Capitals have endured a horrendous run in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. They are yet to win a game this season and have lost 5 out of five matches played so far.

Delhi are, currently, rooted at the bottom of the table as they look to open their account. One of the biggest reasons behind their downfall this season has been the lack of the runs from the top.

Their designated opener, Prithvi Shaw has had a forgettable season. He hasn’t live up to the expectations set by the fans and the team. Shaw featured in all five games but couldn’t play a single impactful innings this season.

His scores in the first five games for Delhi this season read: 0, 15, 0, 7 and 12. In this last game on Saturday, he was run-out while trying to sneak in a single.

Commenting on Shaw’s form, DC assistant coach Shane Watson said, “Prithvi came off after sitting for 20 overs until the impact player rules came in. Otherwise he would be out there running around ready to take off and run that a little bit faster.”

“Prithvi is as skilled as any other batter in India. And everyone has seen that from the time he made his Test debut. The biggest thing for him is just to be able to allow himself to access the skills with no fear of making a mistake or getting out.

“He can take down the best bowlers in the world and in all conditions. A player like Prithvi does not just fall out of a tree”, he further added.

Shaw’s wicket didn’t help as Delhi as the likes of Mitchell Marsh and David Warner got out soon as well. Delhi could only manage 151 runs in the first innings with Manish Pandey registering a fifty.

RCB, in reply, chased down the score pretty comfortably.
