‘Please take your conversations elsewhere’ – India Women’s cricketer hits back at fans trolling her over Mohammed Siraj – Philip Salt argument
Shikha Pandey, a fast bowler for the Indian women’s team, has hit back at fans following criticism for her remark on Mohammed Siraj and Philip Salt’s fight during the match between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2023 last Saturday.
In a 182-run chase, Delhi defeated Bangalore by seven wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. During the match, Mohammed Siraj bowled a short ball to opener Philip Salt during the Capitals’ fifth over. Salt checked with the square leg umpire about a possible wide ball, but the appeal was denied.
Salt then smiled and said something to Siraj, which irritated the RCB pacer. After a few words were exchanged between the two, Capitals captain David Warner was forced to intervene. Siraj was seen pointing to Warner to ask that his batting partner remain quiet. The on-field umpires and Faf du Plessis eventually separated the two.
Cricket fans had mixed feelings about the Siraj-Salt spat. During the game, Shikha Pandey Tweeted about the incident without naming any of the players. She wrote: “Swearing won’t help anyone win any games! #JustSaying”.
