The governing cricket body who host the Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 is slated to take place within India from October to November of this year, and a report on Cricbuzz claims that the explosive match between India and Pakistan is going to happen on October 15. The tournament’s first match will be played between previous edition’s champions England with New Zealand within the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5, and the championship game will also be played there on November 19 according to the information provided in the Cricbuzz report.

India’s opening match in the tournament would likely take place in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium against five-time champions Australia, as also cited by the Indian Express. India and Pakistan, two powerhouses from the subcontinent, will play on October 15.

The 1992 World Cup champions Pakistan will play their games at Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, as well as Bengaluru, according to the provisional itinerary currently being developed. The selected locations include Kolkata, Delhi, Indore, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Rajkot, Raipur, and Mumbai in addition to Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad; Mohali and Nagpur are not included on the list. The semifinal will most likely be played at Mumbai’s Wankhede, site of the 2011 ODI World Cup final.

The matches will follow the same round-robin structure similiar to the format that was followed in the 2019 World Cup, with each team playing the other at least once. After a total of nine games for every side, the top four teams will advance to the semifinals.

India, England, Australia, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, as well as South Africa have already qualified for the World Cup, which will feature 10 teams and 48 games overall. Two former champions, the West Indies and Sri Lanka, in addition to the Netherlands, Ireland, Nepal, Oman, Scotland, the UAE, plus host Zimbabwe will participate in a qualification event in June or July to fill the final two berths.
