‘Phele bilaterals jeet rahe the, ab hum woh bhi haare’ – Fans dejected after India lose by 21 runs to Australia in the Third ODI
India and Australia battled it out at the MA Chidambaram Stadium at Chennai. The coin fell in Australia’s favour and the Kangaroos chose to bat. Travis Head made 33 off 31 balls with four fours and two sixes. Mitchell Marsh scored a dominating run a ball 47 with eight fours and one six. Australia were going great guns and India needed a differentiator, they got it in Hardik Pandya.
The Indian all-rounder picked up the wickets of Head, Marsh and dismissed Steve Smith for a three-ball duck. David Warner demoted himself to the middle order. But that did not help as he departed for 23 off 31 balls with one four. Marnus Labuschagne got a start and made 28 off 45 balls with one four and one six. But he got out to Kuldeep Yadav when he went for the big shot.
Sean Abott scored 26 off 23 balls to take Australia to 269 in their 49 overs
The Kangaroos were 138-5 and were in disarray. But their middle and lower order bailed them out. Alex Carey made 38 off 46 balls with two fours and one six. Marcus Stonis made 25 off 26 with three fours. Sean Abott then came and scored a quick 26 off 23 balls with two fours and one six. Ashton Agar, Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa made 17,10 and 10 respectively. Australia got to 269 in their 49 overs.
in the second innings, Rohit Sharma made 30 off 17 balls with two fours and two sixes. Shubman Gill scored 37 off 49 balls with four fours and one six. He was out lbw via a review that was taken by Australia. KL Rahul got a start and tried to up the tempo after some time, but he got out to Adam Zampa looking to play a big shot after making 32 off 50 balls with two fours and one six.
Virat Kohli steadied the ship with KL Rahul and the allied with Hardik. But Kohli got out when he mistimed a shot to David Warner off Agar. Agar then picked up the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav for a duck. Hardik made a run a ball 40 but got out to the willy Zampa. Zampa then picked up Ravindra Jadeja who made 18 off 33 balls. Mohammed Shami hit 14 but was dismissed by Marcus Stoinis. Kuldeep was then run-out in horrible fashion and India lost to Australia by 21 runs. The Kangaroos took the ODI series 2-1.
