Things have gone from bad to worse for Jasprit Bumrah as he is set to miss the ODI series against Sri Lanka and is also likely to be ruled out of the ODI series against New Zealand and two Tests against Australia. He was first named in the ODI squad against Sri Lanka, but he was later ruled out because he experienced back discomfort.

Aakash Chopra talked about the same on his YouTube channel and said that it is time to start playing without Jasprit Bumrah being available due to his recent back issues. When he was asked who would be in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence he responded with a two-part answer.

“I am slightly worried because he has not played cricket since September. Perhaps it’s time to get ready to live without Bumrah. He played an odd match in between where he got injured and didn’t come back. He then comes and goes back again.”  Chopra said on his YouTube channel. He also talked about Bumrah and his omission from the squad not being a good sign for India ahead of the ODI World Cup.

“His name comes in the team and then he is not there. He was a late inclusion here and was out again. It’s not a good story because it is a World Cup year and you have already missed the last World Cup.”

He further talked about the right-arm pacer’s potential replacements.  “Although there is no one like Bumrah and will not be there as well at this point in time, the good thing is that you have Mohammed Siraj – the way his stature has grown, Umran Malik is doing well, Mohammad Shami does well in ODIs, Arshdeep Singh is ready, I am not sure about Prasidh Krishna’s injury, but he is also looking okay.” The former Indian cricketer opined.

He went on to say that the fast-bowling void without Bumrah could be managed as he referred to India’s large talent pool of fast- bowling but he said that if Bumrah was present it could enhance India’s chances of winning. But too many injuries have happened and it that case and India should think of life without Bumrah.
