‘Perfect team hai’ – Fans react as Australia announce their squad for ODI World Cup 2023

Australia has announced its squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Without a doubt, they have announced a very strong squad. It was expected for Australia to produce a strong squad for the ODI World Cup 2023, which is exactly what they did. In 2023, Australia has been one of the best cricket teams. In ODIs, Australia beat India in their own backyard earlier this year. 

The Australian squad in the big tournament will feature the likes of Pat Cummins (C), Steve Smith, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Cameron Green, Alex Carey, Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Marsh, Marcus Stoinis, and Adam Zampa. On paper, Australia looks very strong and good to be a contender to win the title. 

Plethora of All-rounders in the squad

The squad has almost all the bases covered. The batting unit is robust with the likes of David Warner, Steve Smith, and Travis Head in it. The biggest positive of the squad is the sheer number of players who can contribute to the various facets of the game. The likes of Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, Marcus Stoinis, and Ashton Agar can contribute as both batters and bowlers. 

Alex Carrey and Josh Inglis are very good wicketkeeper batters. If required, even Travis Head and Steve Smith can bowl a bit. Some of the bowlers like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Sean Abbott can bat as well. With such a dynamic squad, one cannot help but think of them as the favorites to win the tournament. They can have a solid playing XI in the Indian conditions. 

Adam Zampa will be crucial in the attack, who can play the role of the lead spinner in the attack. There is Josh Hazlewood, who can bring his experience with him. Given the history of Australia in the ODI World Cup, they have a squad which can repeat their past feats. The experience of Steve Smith, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, and Mitchell Starc will drive the Australian team.
