Pakistan created history against India in the 20-20 World Cup 2021 when they beat the archrivals by ten wickets.  The World Cup match took place in Dubai. Everyone showered high praise on Pakistan for winning the crunch game and for their impressive showing in that World Cup. but since then it has all gone downhill for the Men in Green.

They were posed with problems in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022 where Babar Azam did not fire with the bat at the top. There is a lack of a big hitter in the middle order. Other than the top two batters in Babar and Rizwan, nobody has churned up the runs for Pakistan consistently. The only bright spot for the Men in Green has been their pace attack, which continues to deliver quality spells and fire as a pack even in high-pressure situations.

In the buildup to the 20-20 World Cup 2022, Former Pakistan pace bowler Aaqib Javed has come up with a unique solution for Pakistan and has emphasized that the skipper emulate Virat Kohli’s role.

Why can’t Pakistan experiment?: Aaqib Javed

Aaqib Javed felt that if Babar changes his spot to number four, then Pakistan will have an anchor to rely upon and that the big hitters like Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah can play the big shots in the end and bat around the Pakistan captain.

“Pakistan don’t have a batter like Kohli at No.4. They don’t have any player for No.4. [Aapke paas 4 number pe Kohli nehi hain. Aapke paas 4 number pe koi player nehi hain]. So why can’t Pakistan experiment? You are completely dependent on the openers. If they get dismissed, fans leave the stadium. To address that issue, Babar can bat at No.4. This will give Pakistan that stability they need in the middle order. Then the role that has been given to Asif Ali, at No.6, he can go ahead and bat freely at that position when there are 1-2 overs left,” said Pakistan’s World Cup-winning pacer on Paktv.tv.
