Pakistan’s poor run in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 continues as they were not able to make a match out of the encounter against Zimbabwe. The Babar Azam-led side ended up botching the match off the last ball when they failed to get the three runs that were needed off the last ball.

This was the second straight defeat for the Men in Green as they are yet to get a win since their first loss against India and after this defeat to Zimbabwe. Their chances of making it to the semi-finals look very bleak at the moment.

Former India left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha pointed out what changes for India in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in comparison to their torrid campaign in UAE last year. This is what he had to say,

“In 2019, the number 4 batter question was lingering around the Indian team and that is where India worked hard and tried to answer the question. And what does a champion team do? It answers those questions which they feel that they are not up to the mark. That is where India has improved, and Pakistan are still trying to build themselves up. The loss to India has put psychological pressure on them and maybe that impacted the game against Zimbabwe,” Ojha told India Today.

A fragile middle order has cost Pakistan dearly: Pragyan Ojha

Ojha said that a fragile middle order has been Pakistan’s handicap in recent matches, and it has cost them dearly and that the Men in Green did not take any measures to rectify their problems ahead of the 20-20 World Cup which has reflected on the results.

The problem for Pakistan will be that they need to win their next three matches which are against South Africa, Netherlands, and Bangladesh by huge margins but also need other results to go in their favour. It remains to be seen if the Babar Azam-led side makes it to the semi-finals in this year’s edition of the 20-20 World Cup.

Their main ace of pace Shaheen Afridi is not fully fit and has not fired for the Men in Green which is also one of the reasons that they are in the bottom half of the points table in Group 2.
