‘Padhoge likhoge banoge kharab kheloge kudoge banoge nawab’ – Fans react as Dream 11 replaces Byjus as Team India’s principal sponsor
Dream 11, the fantasy game platform, is all set to replace Byjus as the principal sponsor on Indian Team’s jersey. A report from Outlook indicates that details of the deal are not known but it is expected to be a lot lesser than the deal prior. After Byjus called time out and ended the contract during the financial cycle in 2022. The Indian Cricket Board had then called for closed bidding where Dream 11 gave the bid.
“Yes, Dream11 will be the new jersey sponsor of the Indian team. You can expect an announcement in few days’ time,” A source from the Indian Cricket Board told PTI on the condition of anonymity. When the Dream 11 officials were contacted, they said there are certain rules and regulations in place before a final announcement could be put across. Rummy Poker and Real Money Gaming companies were those who were barred from making submissions of bids.
India will play 2 Tests, 3 ODI and 5 T20Is against West Indies in July
When it comes to principal sponsors of the jersey, they shell out more money for every bilateral match as the sponsor’s name occupies the middle part of the jersey. When that happens, it pays three times as much in World Cups in comparison to what a sponsor would pay when the logo does not get the prime positioning that it deserves. The Indian Cricket Board changed its apparel sponsor from Killer Jeans to Addidas last month.
When the new jerseys were launched, there were a lot of reactions on social media. According to reports, the brand-new jersey with both sponsors will be on show during the West Indies tour, which will kick off on July 12. The series will start off with two Test matches, followed by 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. A batch of Test players has already landed in the West Indies. Team India will start the new cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) from the West Indies Tests.
India have a packed schedule before they play the ODI World Cup on home soil. This is the first time that the 50-over World Cup will be played on Indian shores since 2011. The Rohit Sharma-led side will want to break their 9-year world event drought in front of vociferous home fans.
