Alex Hales, at the age of 34, has announced his retirement from international cricket. The Middlesex batter played 156 matches in international cricket and scored 5066 runs. Hales played 11 Test matches for England and scored 573 runs in the longest format of the game. In ODIs, Hales scored 2419 runs in 67 innings, at a batting average of 37.8, at a strike rate of 95.73, including a best score of 171.
Alex Hales scored 6 hundred in ODIs and scored a hundred when England scored a record 481 runs against Australia in 2018. T20 Internationals was undoubtedly the best format of Alex Hales in international cricket. In 75 innings, Hales scored 2074 runs at an average of 30.96, at a strike rate of 138.36, including a hundred and 12 fifty.
A very good performer in T20 World Cup
The opening batter played a key role in England’s successful campaign in the 2022 T20 World Cup. In 6 matches in the tournament, Hales scored 212 runs, at an average of 42.40, at a strike rate of 147.22, with the best score of an unbeaten 86* against India in the big semifinal. Hales was one of the main reasons for the success of England in the tournament.
Apart from the 2022 T20 World Cup, Hales was good in other T20 World Cup tournaments as well, especially in the 2014 season.
