There has already been a tonne of activity in the auction room for the Indian T20 League 2023 mini-auction. Today, all-rounders were anticipated to receive the best offers as teams competed to fill the gaps in their rosters. As predicted, that is exactly what happened.

England’s star all-rounder Sam Curran turned out to be the hottest buy in the auction. He shattered all the previous records in the auction as Punjab paid a hefty price of 18.5 crores to get him in their squad. This is the highest price paid for a player in the auction.

The previous most costliest player was South African all-rounder Chris Morris, who was sold to Rajasthan for 16.25 crores in 2021. The new record of the costliest player has now been awarded to the young all-rounder from England, who was expected to wreak havoc in the auction room.

Twitter users were shocked to learn that Sam Curran had won 18.5 crores in the auction room. Some users voiced their concerns, saying that the all-rounder’s high price tag might prevent it from delivering as promised. “Hmesha mehnge bikne waale players khraab hi krte performance , Sam Curran ka dekho kya hota hai , green shyd hi chle dekho,” a fan wrote. “Sam Curran becomes the most expensive player in IPL history at £1.95million. Merry Christmas,” another user wrote.

In the meantime, Punjab managed to bag another all-rounder in the auction. The bagged in Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza for a base price of 50 lakhs. This was a steal of a deal for the 2014 finalists.

On the other hand, other all-rounders also broke some other records. The second most expensive player in this auction and the entire Indian T20 League is Australian Cameron Green. The all-around player cost the Mumbai team a hefty 17.5 crores. Chennai also had a great time as they bagged England’s Test captain Ben Stokes for a price of 16.25 crores.
