New Zealand and India drew swords in the third ODI which took place at Holkar Stadium in Indore. The Kiwis won the toss and chose to bowl first. India got off to a strong start, courtesy of Rohit Sharma who made an ODI Hundred after over 1100 days. He played a sizzling innings of 101 off 85 balls with nine fours and six sixes.

Shubman Gill also made a superb 112 off 78 balls which consisted of 13 fours and five sixes. They laid a strong opening partnership and took the score to 212. India rode on centuries from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill to get to 212 at one stage

Ishan Kishan made 17 off 24 with one four and one six before he was dismissed after a crazy run-out that unfolded with Virat Kohli due to confusion. Virat Kohli looked good for his 36 off 27 balls with three fours and one six. But, he was dismissed by Jacob Duffy when he was trying to up the ante.

Suryakumar Yadav departed when the score was at 293-5 after he made 14 off 9 with two sixes. What India needed was the impetus and push towards the end and they got it thanks to Hardik Pandya who scored 54 off 38 balls with three fours and three sixes and Shardul Thakur who made a quickfire 25 off 17 balls with three fours and one six.

This helped India reach a big total of 395-9 at the end of their 50 overs.  Blair Tickner was the best of the bowlers for New Zealand as he picked up 3-76 in his 10 overs. Duffy also picked up three wickets in his 10 overs, but he went for 100 runs at the end of his spell. India have taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the ODI series. India won the first ODI by 12 runs at Hyderabad which was a nail-biting thriller and then won the second ODI at Raipur by 8 wickets on the back of a wonderful bowling performance.
