‘Open your mind up…’ – Virat Kohli’s simple yet effective advice to his 16-year-old self
The Indian superstar Virat Kohli is bracing for the upcoming four-match Test series against Australia slated on February 9. The veteran ended his century drought during the Asia Cup 2022 match against Afghanistan, eventually scoring his 72nd international hundred vs Bangladesh in the ODIs. With four quick centuries to his name, Kohli is awaiting his Test comeback as he failed to emulate the same energy in the Tests during the Bangladesh tour.
In a promotional video uploaded on his official Twitter account, when the anchor asked him about the advice that he would give his 16-year-old self, Kohli said that it would be to learn about the world a little more and step out of his hometown Delhi claiming that there is a world out of the capital city of the country.
“Learn about the world a little more, open your mind up a little more, there is life beyond Delhi as well,” Kohli said in the video. After scoring his 71st century in the continental tournament in September 2022, when asked about his subdued celebration, Kohli said that the aggressive celebrations were a thing of the past.

I literally ate all the junk food in the world: Virat Kohli
Kohli’s worst came during the England tour in 2014 when the right-handed batter was widely criticised for his batting technique and lack of fitness. Much to the surprise of the fans, in a span of four years, the right-handed batter proved his might in the same country in the 2018 tour, eventually becoming the only performer with the bat for India right throughout the series.
Opening up on his fitness, Kohli claimed that he ate all the junk and it was his weirdest diet ever. “Up to the age of 24-25, it was the weirdest diet ever, I literally ate all the junk food in the world. So, that for me was weird, this is normal,” he added.
“I never got the chance to meet Lataji (Lata Mangeshkar), so it would have been amazing to have a conversation and get to know about her life and about her journey a little bit more,” said the veteran when asked about the person he would take out for dinner,.
