An interesting event turned out in the second match of the 2023 edition of Lanka Premier League (LPL) which was played between Galle Titans and Dambulla Aura when a snake found its way to the field. Due to this uninvited guest on the pitch, the match was halted for some time. The incident took place in the second innings of the game. The fans along with players were surprised and also at the same time saw a funny side to this incident. The commentators also saw a funny side of this incident.
On July 30, Sunday, Jaffna Kings and Colombo Strikers engaged in an exciting match at the Premadasa International Cricket Stadium to begin the fourth season of the Lanka Premier League. It should be noted that the game was a rematch of the previous season’s LPL championship game, which the Kings won by two wickets.
After losing the toss in the opening match of the competition, the Thisara Perera-led Jaffna Kings were given the opportunity to bat first. In the first innings, Towhid Hridoy (54 off 39) contributed significantly to the Kings’ 173 total. For the Strikers, Naseem Shah, Matheesha Pathirana, Chamika Karunaratne, and Lakshan Sandakan each claimed one wicket.

Colombo Strikers’ response, although losing two wickets early, got off to a strong start. Niroshan Dickwella, the captain, set the tone for his team by hitting 58 points off of 34, including nine boundaries and one six. The defending champions, who finished with a record of 3/31, have placed a lot of reliance on Hardus Viljoen. In addition to picking up two wickets each, Dilshan Madushanka and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth helped Jaffna Kings restrict their opponents by 152 runs in 19.4 overs.
In the second match, The Dambulla Auraโs skipper won the Kushal Mendis won the match and opted to ball first. The Galle Titans had an iffy start but despite losing wickets at regular intervals, the Titans side did manage to get 180 runs on the boards courtesy of some brilliant finishing from the skipper Dasun Shanaka who scored a quickfire 42 off 21 deliveries with two boundaries and four magnificent maximum.
