‘One thing is sure, you’ll see aggressive cricket’- KL Rahul shares his views on adopting ‘Bazball’ ahead of Bangladesh Tests
England’s new approach towards playing Test Cricket, popularly known as ‘Bazball’ has been the biggest talking point in the cricketing fraternity of late. The arrival of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum as the captain and the coach respectively has changed the fortunes of England’s Test team.
On Monday, they registered a 26-run win over Pakistan in the second Test match and also sealed the series 2-0. Despite playing on a dead pitch in the first Test, England went for the result and managed to secure a win as well.
The new approach toward Test cricket has impressed a lot of people and KL Rahul is not an exception. India’s skipper for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, lauded England for their newfound approach in the longest format of the game.
“To watch, it’s really, really exciting. I have been watching these two games. It’s really exciting. I really enjoy watching Test cricket being played like that. Very fearless, very aggressive, taking the game on. That’s worked for them. Each team has its own way. Obviously, every team can learn a thing or two from teams that are doing well, from how they have performed and what has worked for them,” Rahul told reporters in Chattogram.
Later, the Indian cricketer also said that
“You can’t always have the same approach, you turn up according to the condition. There is a Test championship qualification there for us, so we will have to be aggressive as well. We know where we stand and what we need to do to qualify for that final. As I said, we will assess on that given day,
Asked about the brand of cricket the team would adopt under him going into the series, Rahul said,
“One thing is sure, you’ll see aggressive cricket from our side.”
The first Test match between India and Bangladesh is slated to be played from 14th to 18th December 2022 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
