‘Oh mah go, Turu Lob’- Fans react as Virat Kohli says he was fan of any team which had Ronaldo in it
In a recent brand engagement event, former Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli revealed his newfound support for Manchester City. Previously, Kohli was a fervent admirer of Manchester City’s cross-town rivals, Manchester United. “My favourite football club right now is Manchester City because they’re very sweet and they invited us recently, and we had a lot of fun”, Kohli said.
Virat Kohli’s shift in football loyalties from Manchester United to Manchester City stems from two key factors. Firstly, an invitation to Manchester City’s facilities, extended to Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma, left a positive impression that swayed his support. Secondly, the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from the Premier League, a player whom Kohli strongly admires, further contributed to his decision to embrace Manchester City. “Earlier it was wherever Ronaldo played. Since he has left the Premier League now I support Manchester City”, he added.
Kohli has his sights on 2nd World Cup triumph on home soil
Virat Kohli is currently engaged in the ODI World Cup which has been a magnificent one for both him and Team India. India have won all their eight games so far and considering that their last group-stage game is against the Netherlands, they are all set to go into the semi-finals undefeated. India will play the first semi-final on November 15 at the Wankhede Stadium with New Zealand being the most likely opponent. Kohli’s contribution to India’s success has been immense, evident from his impressive tally of 543 runs in just 8 innings. He is currently third on the run-scoring charts and could well be at the top at the end of the tournament.
His returns include two centuries and four half-centuries and in India’s previous game against the Temba Bavuma-led South Africa, he equalized the great Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries by an individual in ODI history. Kohli will be looking forward to the business end of the World Cup and his contributions will be crucial if India is to break their trophy drought.
