As per reports, Pakistan Cricket is all set to reappoint Mickey Arthur for the coaching duties. However, the Australian will be appointed as the online coach of the team till 2024.

If reports are to be believed, then Arthur is set to become the first online coach in cricket history. He will be returning to the Pakistan set-up four years after the sacking.

Interestingly, Arthur won’t be traveling with the Pakistan Cricket Team for all the series and will only travel with the team when he feels necessary. For most of his tenure, he is likely to coach Babar Azam’s team online.

Notably, Saqlain Mushtaq’s tenure as Pakistan’s head coach is set to end and the Pakistan Cricket Board is contemplating onboarding Arthur, at the earliest. It has also been learnt that Arthur showed reluctance in taking up the role as he, recently, signed a contract with Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

A report by BolNews Pakistan claims that Arthur agreed to coach the Pakistan Cricket Team after multiple requests by PCB. The reports also suggest that Arthur is unlikely to be available with the team for the big tournaments such as Asia Cup 2023. However, he assured of his presence at the World Cup 2023, scheduled to be held in India this year.

“I am personally in negotiations with Mickey and we have resolved 90 percent of issues. Hopefully, we will very soon share the news that Mickey will be joining us. I’d like him to build his own team of coaches once he is here,” Najam Sethi said last week.

In his last stint as Pakistan’s coach, Pakistan clinched the Champions Trophy 2017. He parted ways with the team after Pakistan failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the 2019 World Cup.
