India and New Zealand lock horns on Sunday in a huge clash during the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. The game in Dharamshala is a top-of-the-table clash between the two unbeaten teams in the tournament so far.

New Zealand and India have played four games and won each of them. A win for either side on Sunday in Dharamshala will ensure their entry into the Semi-Finals. The two countries met last time during the infamous 2019 ODI World Cup semi-finals in Manchester. That game marked the end of MS Dhoni’s international career.

Tom Latham is expected to field more or less the same side. Tim Southee who had missed the first four games of the tournament is available for selection. India on the other hand will go in without Hardik Pandya who had injured himself in Pune.

In the last two games that we have seen in Dharamshala during the ODI World Cup 2023, teams batting first have won. It was evident during the South Africa versus Netherlands game just a few days ago.

With the winter setting in there could be chances for a few spells of short rain breaks. There could also be a good cloud cover that could help the Pacers. Dew could play a huge factor for the team bowling second.

India could go into the game with Mohammad Shami replacing Shardul Thakur. There is also a case for either Suryakumar Yadav or Ishan Kishan replacing Hardik Pandya for the game. If the pitch turns like it did in the South Africa versus Netherlands game then Ravi Ashwin could make a comeback to the XI.

India has played five games at this venue winning two and losing two while one game was abandoned. New Zealand had played India at this venue in 2016 and was bowled out for 190 as India won the game by 6 wickets. In World Cups, the two teams have met 9 times with India winning 3, New Zealand winning 5 and one game yielding no –result.
