ODI World Cup 2023: Weather update from Dharamshala ahead of England vs Bangladesh clash

Weather Update for the big England versus Bangladesh game on Tuesday.

Match number seven of the ODI World Cup 2023 will be played in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala ground.  The game will pit defending champions England against Bangladesh in the early morning game on Tuesday.

The English began the tournament with a nine-wicket loss to New Zealand in Ahmedabad. Bangladesh on the other hand beat Afghanistan easily on Saturday to take their first win of the tournament.

Ben Stokes will not be playing the game on Tuesday with Jos Buttler confirming the big absence. Bangladesh meanwhile will want to win the game on Tuesday and have no huge fitness issues before the game.

Cloudy and overcast conditions to aid England seamers?

Dharamshala will be seen with a prominent cloud cover during the day. There is a chance for spells of sun to come out making it easy for the batters. If the weather does turn out to be overcast, this could spell trouble for the Bangladeshi batters.

The English seamers can swing the ball under such conditions with ease. Mark Wood known for his raw pace can hit the deck hard as the stadium is known for being quick.

The ground has small boundaries making it favourable for big hitters like Jonny Bairstow, Harry Brook, and Liam Livingstone. Despite the short dimensions of the ground, run-scoring in Dharamshala has been difficult.

Jos Buttler had earlier said that he wasn’t too happy with the outfield. There were complaints after the Bangladesh versus Afghanistan game. Cricket’s Apex body had rated the outfield as average.

The captain winning the toss will want to bowl first and make use of the early conditions. Chasing is easier in these parts of the world as the pitch plays much better in the afternoon. There is no chance of dew since it is a day game and the outfield will get quicker as the day goes on.

Apart from the seam bowlers, even the spinner could get a fair bit of help on the abrasive surface. The October heat could play a role if the cloud cover is off and there is a substantial amount of turn-on offer.
