Not Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh was the first choice for Kabir Singh – Sandeep Reddy Vanga drops truth bombs!

With only one day until the release of Animal, the cast, including director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is on a promotional tour across India, meeting and greeting their adoring fans. Despite his hectic schedule, the director made time to speak with iDream Media, where he revealed that actor Ranveer Singh, rather than Shahid Kapoor, was his first choice to play the titular role in Kabir Singh. He also talked about why Ranveer Singh declined the offer before Shahid Kapoor joined the cast.

The Kabir Singh director told iDream Media, “I was constantly getting calls from Mumbai to do the remake. It was pitched to Ranveer Singh first. I was really hoping to do it with him. But, in the end, he decided against it because the situation was too dark for him at the time.” Sandeep Reddy Vanga explained Shahid Kapoor’s involvement in the project, “Shahid’s track record was a concern; none of his solo films had done 100 crore at the time, his highest was 65 crore. It was once said that Telugu films grossed between 55 and 65 crores. ‘Why are you doing it with this guy? If it was Ranveer, the box office would be higher. But I’ve always had faith in Shahid; he’s a great actor.”

Ranveer Singh rejected Kabir Singh:

Let us tell you, Kabir Singh, like its Telugu counterpart Arjun Reddy, did well at the box office. According to the director, the film, which starred Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, grossed approximately 380 crore worldwide. Meanwhile, Animal’s Censor Board of Film Certification report has been made public. The film lasts 203 minutes, or 3 hours and 23 minutes, according to a report image widely shared on social media. In addition to awarding the film an Adults Only (A) certificate, the CBFC asked director Sandeep Reddy Vanga to make five changes to it.

Animal is scheduled to be released on December 1, 2023. Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Tripti Dimitri play pivotal roles in the film. Fans are eagerly waiting to rush to their nearest theatres to watch the film.
