Indian cricket team has been consistently performing in bilateral series but fails to deliver in multinational tournaments. In the recently concluded World Test Championship finals India lost against Australia by 209 runs as they failed to chase 444 runs. Indian bowlers made the game for India while batters failed to deliver on the most important occasion.

Meanwhile, a Pakistani batter Shehzad Ahmed criticised the Indian team and said that they don’t have threatening bowlers. He said all these things while speaking on a podcast with Nadir Ali. “No disrespect to them. But there hasn’t been any threatening bowler from India that the opposition batter is scared to play him. They have good bowlers like Bumrah, Jadeja and Ashwin, but there has not been a dangerous bowler as such. Their batters are dangerous,” said Shehzad.

To elaborate on his comments, Shehzad compared the Indian bowling line-up with Shoaib Akhtar. He said that Akhtar had abilities to threaten opposition batters which lacks in Indian bowlers. It’s worth noting that Shehzad has represented Pakistan in 13 Test matches from 2013 to 2017. Since then he has failed to grab the spot in the Test team and has been running out of the game.

“Akhtar had two great qualities”, says Shehzad Ahmed

Further speaking about Pakistani legend Shoaib Akhtar Shehzad said, “I can’t recollect any other bowler apart from Shoaib Akhtar. When I was new to the team, he was already The Shoaib Akhtar. He had 2 great qualities. First, he never bowled no-balls in the nets. Second, he never bowled unnecessary bouncers to the batters in the nets. He knew the batter would get hurt.”

Notably, India and Pakistan will square off against each other in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 in September this year. After that, the arch-rivals will once again face each other in the 50-over World Cup in October-November. It’s worth noting that Indian Cricket Board and Apex Cricket Council have convinced Pakistan to face India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15.
