New Zealand Cricket releases Trent Boult from central contract
Trent Boult, the top speedster for New Zealand Cricket (NZC), was formally released from his central contract on Wednesday. Boult made the choice because he wanted to spend more time with his family and also be available for domestic games in addition to international ones. The board made the decision after the pacer made multiple requests.
The move also means that Boult may only play in important matches for New Zealand in the future. The Kiwi speedster has played 137 limited overs games and 78 Tests for his country so far. This decision contrasts with the choices of many other players, who have left one game format to manage their workload and spend more time with their families.
Boult, on the other hand, will continue to represent New Zealand across all formats, although in a considerably reduced capacity.

Trent Boult acknowledged that opting out of the central contract will diminish his prospects of representing his country. He will continue to be eligible for selection for New Zealand, although players under a central contract might be given preference.
