Virender Sehwag was one of India’s most explosive batters to ever grace the pitch. Even before the advent of T20 cricket, the right-hand batter played with a swagger and aggression that many of today’s cricketers could only hope to emulate.

Ever since Sehwag retired from cricket, many have been hoping for someone to fill the great void left by the former Team India batter. Given Sehwag’s massive fan following, many fans were pleasantly surprised to see his elder son Aryaveer Virender Sehwag’s name in the Delhi Men’s under 16 team for a match against Bihar.

The match is part of the Vijay Merchant Trophy in which Aryaveer Virender Sehwag was named as the 15th player on the team sheet. While a good number of fans were ecstatic at his selection there were many who questioned his selection in the team.

A user by the name Aman called it to be, “nepotism in cricket too.” One with the name Mika Singh Iyer tweeted, “Sehwag son is in the 15 whereas lot of talented kids are not even included in the team.”

Curious Indian replied, “Praise the fairness of Delhi cricket that he is only in 15, what would have anyone done if he was in playing XI.”

Many have claimed his son’s inclusion in the team due to Sehwag’s influence and have outright branded him as the product of nepotism. In today’s society where Bollywood and politics are brimming with nepotism, many social media users are quick to judge Sehwag’s son without knowing about his talents and watching his game.
