Neeraj Chopra created history on July 24 as he became the second Indian after long jump legend Anju Bobby George to win a World Athletics Championships medal. Just like George, Chopra also won a silver medal. Notably, the Javelin Thrower missed out on a Gold Medal to Anderson Peters owing to the former’s foul in the first attempt. Meanwhile, the Tokyo Olympics Gold Medalist has said that the hunger for gold will continue.

Ahead of the Commonwealth Games 2022, the Indian Army subedar also maintained that he needs to make peace with the fact that he won’t win the Gold Medal every time. He added that he will do everything in his control and concentrate on his training. The 24-year-old also opened up on the conditions and the wind speed and how his confidence wasn’t shaken up at all. While speaking to The Times Of India, he said that he would look to win Gold in Diamond League and World Championships, which will be played next year in Budapest.

‘The hunger for gold will continue in me. But I have to believe we cannot get gold each time. I will do what is in my control…focus and concentrate on my training. While the conditions weren’t good and the wind speed was too high, I was confident I would perform well. I am satisfied with the result. I will look to win the gold in Diamond Leagues and, of course, the World Championships,” Chopra said when asked about the Gold medal eluding him.

When asked whether he spoke to Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who also contested in the final, the 2018 Asian Games winner revealed that he spoke to his Pakistani counterpart and told the latter that he was doing well.

“I spoke to him after the event and told him that he performed really well. He said ‘I had a problem with my elbow’. He was not doing well in the beginning, so when we finished, I told him he did a fine job and made a good comeback,” he revealed.
