India continued their unbeaten run in the ongoing ODI World Cup with a comprehensive 100-run victory over England at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow yesterday. This was their sixth successive win in the tournament, and they are now the only team to remain unbeaten. This was a particularly satisfying victory for India, as they had to work hard for it after being put in a difficult position by the England bowlers. However, they showed great character and resilience to come back and win the match.

India were reduced to 40-3 early in their innings, but Rohit Sharma (87) and Suryakumar Yadav (49) played mature knocks to help the team post a total of 240. England were expected to chase down the target easily, but the Indian bowlers had other plans.

The Indian bowlers tormented the English batters, bowling them out for just 129. England’s meek surrender was a reflection of their poor title defense. The defeat was their fifth of the tournament, and their batters had no answers to the questions posed by the Indian bowlers. Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers, with figures of 4-22. The rest of the bowlers, barring Mohammed Siraj, were also excellent. India will now look to end the table on top of the points table as that will allow them to play the 4th placed team in the semi finals.

NBA team owner expresses support for Team India

India’s performances in this World Cup have earned the team a lot of appreciation and praise from fans and pundits alike. After the win against England, Vivek Ranadive, the owner of NBA team Sacramento Kings congratulated the team, addressing the video particularly to superstar Virat Kohli. Ranadive said that he lives in Northern California and has to wake up early to watch the games, but he does so happily, especially since India are on a roll. He also said that he has got a Sacramento Kings’ jersey for Kohli and that he hopes to give it to him soon.

“I own the Sacarmento Kings and I got your own shirt for you so I’m hoping to see you soon. Maybe when you win it all or lift the trophy, I’ll get to see you. But good luck and and Jai Ho”, he said.
