Naveen-ul-Haq might take part in SA20 2024 after Afghanistan relaxes his ban

Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman were also not given the NOC.

Naveen-Ul-Haq is all set to take part in the ongoing SA20 2024. It will be the first South African tour of Naveen and he would be looking forward to performing well for his side. Naveen is a part of Durban Super Giants in the SA20 2024. The move comes after Afghanistan decided to relax the sanctions on three of their cricketers who preferred T20 leagues over national duty.

Three players were denied the NOC by Afghanistan for taking part in the T20 leagues. Along with Naveen, Farooqi and Mujeeb were also denied the NOC. However, Afghanistan recently decided to relax the ban on the three upon retrospection. Mujeeb was denied the NOC when he was taking part in Melbourne Renegades in the 13th edition of the BBL.

Afghanistan’s board took to the press release and stated the lift on the ban. “ACB will strictly consider the issuance of the NOCs to the respected players while prioritizing the national duty and ACB’s interests,” claimed the statement of the board. It has been revealed that the interests of the players will be looked after by the board in the upcoming days.

‘It’s great to have the calibre of these players joining the league’ – Graeme Smith

Naveen arrived in SA to take part in the SA20 2024. The right-arm pacer is likely to start in the XI of DSG in the second half of the league. Speaking about the same, the commissioner of SA20, Graeme Smith, expressed his happiness and felt that the franchises are leaving no stone unturned to get the best players in the world to play for them. Graeme added that players like them bring value to the league.

“We can see the teams pulling out all the stops and bringing in some world-class players into their squads. It’s great to have the calibre of these players joining the league,” said Graeme. Naveen took part in the series against India which was concluded recently. He will be in action with LSG in the Indian summer where he would be hoping to learn a lot before the T20 WC 2024.
