T Natarajan inaugurated a cricket ground in Tamil Nadu that he set up with his funds. Natarajan said that this was his dream project. The inauguration took place on June 23. Natarajan has played for India. The left-arm bowler has played four T20 games for India and took seven wickets. He has also starred in two ODIs and picked up three wickets. In Indian Premier League (IPL), he has been a part of two teams, Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Natarajan announced his dream project in December 2021, just a year after he debuted for India. He moved to develop cricket in his village in Chinnappampatti, Salem district. He earlier took to his social media handle to share the inauguration date. When the inauguration happened, there was a lot of star presence, including veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Vishwanathan and Indian film star Yogi Babu. There were Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) players present as well.

T Natarajan was also part of the victorious Gabba Test at Brisbane against Australia in 2021

“Extremely delighted to announce the opening of my dream-come-true project- Natarajan Cricket Ground. 23rd of June, 2023 Chinnappampatti, Salem District,” Natarajan had earlier mentioned in a tweet. Natarajan was considered one of the premier left-arm pace options due to his death bowling skills, but his career has failed to take off due to injuries.

Here is the tweet:

Natarajan was also a part of history in Australia, where he debuted in strange circumstances after many of the first eleven players were injured. The match at the Gabba in Brisbane remains the only Test fixture that he has starred in. He also picked up 3-78 in the first innings. Natarajan being a left armer added an element of differentiation to the Indian bowling attack. He helped India win the series against Australia 2-1.

In IPL, Natarajan has picked up 48 wickets in 47 matches at an average of 31.33 and an economy rate of 8.76. Though IPL 2023 was not his best season, he still took ten scalps from 12 games at an average of 41 and an economy rate of 9.11.
