Indian television programmes have long provided mass entertainment. Many TRPs are generated by shows like Anupamaa, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, Imlie, and many more. Indian audiences have recently grown to love Pakistani TV series as well. Actor, director, and writer Yasir Hussain of Pakistan has now offered his thoughts on the calibre of Indian and Pakistani television programmes.

He declared that because of the poor calibre of work being done, he would not want his son to work in the entertainment industry. He criticised the content of Indian television shows and mentioned how the Pakistani industry provided subpar work. Speaking about Pakistani shows, Yasir Hussain stated in an interview with Something Haute that an actor’s responsibility is to practise acting well and advance their craft, but they are frequently given subpar roles. Yasir Hussain responded, “The countries that have low-quality drama are watching it,” in response to the host’s further remark that Indians do watch Pakistani shows. If not, no one else is watching TV from Pakistan.

Yasir Hussain drops controversial statements:

he was quoted as saying, “Matlab woh nations jinke paas ghatiya quality ka drama hai woh humare drama zaroor dekh rahe hain. Uske alawa kon dekh raha hai aapka drama? Aapka drama sirf wahi log dekh rahe hai jinke paas apna drama behtar nahi hai… India mein toh intehaayi zeher drama hai (make shooting sounds). Hamara drama unse toh behtar hai isiliye woh dekh rahe hain.”

‘Karachi Se Lahore’ was the film debut of Yasir Hussain. Additionally, he appeared in the TV series ‘Dareecha’ and ‘Coke Kahani’. In the television series ‘Baandi’, he had a bad part. As the host of ‘The After Moon Show’, he rose to even greater fame. Yasir Hussain faced severe criticism on social media in the past for his criticism of Shah Rukh Khan‘s popular film ‘Pathaan‘. “It was just a video game with no plot”, he claimed.

For the unversed, Yasir Hussain is married to a celebrated Pakistani TV actress Iqra Aziz. She is known for her exceptional performances in Pakistani dramas like ‘Suno Chanda’, ‘Suno Chanda 2’, ‘Jhooti’, ‘Ranjha Ranjha Kardi’ and many more.
