‘Must be a rare occasion’ – Fans laud brothers Sarfaraz and Musheer Khan for scoring centuries for respective Indian sides
It was a great day for Indian Cricket in general. Rohit Sharma and his team have begun well against England in the first Test. In Gujarat, India A has taken a huge lead against England A to assert their authority.
In Bloemfontein, India Under-19 have put Ireland under the sword by scoring 301 runs on the board. India’s under-19 teams are the defending World Cup winners and won their first game against Bangladesh.
Sarfaraz Khan and his younger brother Musheer Khan made the day further memorable. The two brothers scored centuries to show their talents and send messages to the national selectors.
Khan Brothers dominate headlines –
After being ignored for the first two Tests, Sarfaraz Khan took out his frustration on the England A bowlers. The 26-year-old scored 161 off just 160 balls while batting at number three for India A.
The knock contained 18 fours and five huge sixes as Sarfaraz reached his century in 96 balls. The knock has come at the right time for the batter with the selectors set to meet soon for selection.
If Shubman Gill doesn’t fire in the next two games, his spot could very well be usurped by Sarfaraz Khan. India A took an overall lead of 337 runs as Devdutt Padikkal continued his good form with the bat.
The 23-year-old scored 105 runs off just 126 balls with 17 hits to the fence. Saurabh Kumar (77), Washington Sundar (57), and Abhimanyu Eeswaran (58) were the other major contributors to India with the bat.
Musheer Khan meanwhile scored an impressive 118 run-knock off 106 balls on Thursday. That knock helped India Under-19 reach 301 for 7 from their 50 overs. Adarsh Singh was out early for 17, while Arshin Kulkarni was back in the hut for 32.
Skipper Uday Saharan joined Musheer Khan and the pair added 156 runs for the 3rd wicket. The stand came in just under 25 overs as the two batters went after the Irish bowlers. Young Musheer Khan looked up at the skies and thanked the stars for helping him reach his ton. Sachin Dhas with 21 off 9 balls with two fours and a six helped India push past 300 run mark.
Here’s how the fans reacted –
