It was a match to remember for the Mumbai crowd as the Mumbai Indians chased down a stiff target of 212 which was set by Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. The batting unit of MI clicked, and they did very well. It was a wonderful batting performance from the Patan that saw them ace the chase in the end. It was a special birthday gift for MI skipper Rohit Sharma and the 1000th game of the IPL belonged to MI.

Coming to the game, there was a haemorrhage of runs scored at the Wankhede Stadium. Batting first RR’s Yashasvi Jaiswal hogged the limelight. The Mumbaikar scored a sizzling 124 off 62 balls with 16 fours and eight sixes. This was his maiden century in the IPL. In the run chase, MI came out all guns blazing. After Rohit and Ishan Kishan departed early, the MI middle order took centre stage and ensured that there would be no further hiccups.

Cameron Green came in at number three and made a quick 44 off 26 balls with four fours and two sixes. Suryakumar Yadav showed his class and made a pristine 55 off 29 balls studded with eight fours and two sixes. The finishing touches were given by Tilak Varma and Tim David. Varma made an unbeaten 29 off 21 balls with three fours and one six. David lit up the Wankhede with his big hitting at the end.

The Australian made an unbeaten 45 off 14 balls with two fours and five sixes. He finished the match in a Kieron Pollard-esque fashion. MI have picked up two valuable points and shown their fans that they have still got some fire left in them as the IPL 2023 has breached the halfway stage.
