‘Mumbai ne Bangalore ko ragad ke dho diya’ – Top 10 memes as Bangalore succumb to 9 wicket loss against Mumbai in WPL

In the 4th match of the Women’s T20 League Bangalore and Mumbai faced each other. Bangalore won the toss and chose to bat. The Bold Army got off to a wonderful start with Sophie Devine scoring 16 off 11 balls with two fours and one six. Skipper Smriti Mandhana scored 23 off 17 balls with five fours. After four overs they were 39-0. But from here, things changed very quickly. They lost four wickets for just five runs.

Elysse Perry and Richa Ghosh tried to steady the ship but Perry fell when the score was 71 after making 13 off 7 balls with one four and one six. Ghosh made 28 off 26 balls with three fours and one six. Kanika Ahuja made 22 off 13 balls with three fours and one six. Shreyanka Patil made 23 off 15 balls with four fours and in the end, Megan Schutt made 20 off 14 balls with three fours. These contributions allowed Bangalore to get to a total of 155 in 18.4 overs.

Hayley Mathews picked up 3-28 in her four overs for Mumbai

With the ball for Mumbai Hayley Mathews picked up 3-28 in her four overs. Saika Ishaque picked up 2-26 in her four overs. and Amelia Kerr picked up 2-30 in her 3.4 over spell. The bowlers from Mumbai functioned like a well oiled unit. In the second innings, Mumbai were provided a fast start by Yastika Bhatia who scored 23 off 19 with four fours. The assault continued with Mathews making  77 off 38 balls with 13 fours and 1 six and Nat Sciver Brunt making 55 off 29 balls with nine fours and one six. It was all one-way traffic from there.

The Bangalore bowlers only picked up a solitary wicket which was taken by Preeti Bose and could not stop the flow of boundaries from the batters. Bangalore bowlers were conceding one boundary an over which did not help their cause. It was a hapless bowling performance from Bangalore.
