Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals met at the Arun Jaitley Stadium to battle it out in the IPL 2023. Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl. DC got off to a start as Prithvi Shaw made 15 off 10 balls with three fours but he fell to Hrithik Shokeen trying to up the ante. Manish Pandey came in at number three and made a valuable 26 off 18 balls with five fours.

Then as David Warner was trying to bat through, DC suffered a middle-order collapse as they lost three wickets. These included the wickets of Pandey, Yash Dhull, and Rovman Powell. DC were tottering at 98-5. Warner needed someone to support him. The Australian was not having the best of timing with his bat. Then in a plot twist, Axar Patel came in after the fall of Lalit Yadav’s wicket and changed the game for his side.

Over the last 12 months, the left-hander has been a lethal weapon with the bat in hand. He defied all odds given the tough circumstances and played a magical innings of 54 off 25 balls with five fours and two sixes. This innings gave DC the much-needed momentum and allowed them to get to 172 in their 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav was injured on his eye while trying to catch of Axar Patel in the fourth ball of the 16th over.

Rohit Sharma made65 off 45 balls with six fours and four sixes to help MI win against DC

DC could have got to 180-185 but they lost the plot to Jason Behrendorff who picked up three wickets in the over. There was also a run out in the same over.  In the second innings MI got off to a strong start as Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan were off the blocks early. Ishan Kishan made 31 off 26 balls with six fours before he was run out.

Tilak Varma came in at number 3 and scored an entertaining 41 off 29 balls with one four and four sixes. He holed out in the deep to Mukesh Kumar. Then Suryakumar departed the next ball as well. Rohit was the star off the show as he motored on and made 65 off 45 balls with six fours and four sixes. He was dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman.

Then the match meandered to the 19th over were Cameron Green and Tim David hit two sixes of Mustafizur to make it only five needed off the last over. Nortje bowled it and Mukesh Kumar dropped Daivd off the second ball. There was a wide review by DC which went in their favour. Then MI needed 2 off 1 ball to win. Tim David hit two runs off the final ball to hand MI their first win.
