Only a few days left are before MS Dhoni’s Chennai will take on Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for the opening match of the Indian T20 League 2023. Star star all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja is all set for the upcoming season which can be seen through his social media posts in recent days.

However, Jadeja’s future with Chennai was up in the air after a debacle of a 2022 season. He was relinquished from the captaincy mid-season following a series of losses. Notably, Dhoni stepped down from the captaincy before the 2022 season and Jadeja took over the responsibility of leading the franchise.

However, Chennai suffered consecutive losses and were on the verge of getting knocked out of the playoffs race. Dhoni was given the captaincy again, although Chennai finished the season in the ninth position on the points table.

Jadeja walked away from the team hotel

According to Cricbuzz, Jadeja was not happy with his team’s stance when his performance and captaincy was not going well. He, reportedly, walked away from the team hotel during the later stages of the season. The 34-year-old then had a “long, frank chat” with Dhoni and CEO Kasi Viswanathan, and the ‘air of misunderstanding’ between all parties was cleared. Jadeja, reportedly, opened up to Dhoni and Viswanathan on “what irked him” and what he expected in the future.

Jadeja was also ruled out of the mid-season citing an injury. In 10 games he played in 2022, Jadeja scored 116 runs at an average of 19 and claimed five wickets at an economy rate of 7.52. However, it seems like things are going fine between Jadeja and the franchise ahead of the upcoming season, which can also be seen in the latest photos and videos of him with Dhoni which are going viral on the internet.

It is also expected to be the last outing of Dhoni for Chennai, and the franchise will be looking to give him a perfect farewell by winning the fifth title. The 16th edition of the Indian T20 League will kickstart on March 31st.
