Mrunal Thakur, one of the most versatile actors, is set to wow audiences with her compelling performance in Pippa, based on the critically acclaimed novel “The Burning Chaffees.” Thakur plays Radha, a medical student and cryptographer who, along with her siblings, becomes an essential part of the war effort in this groundbreaking war drama, which was released today on Prime Video.

Pippa tells the gripping and emotional story of three siblings who, despite playing different roles, band together in unwavering unity to support one another during a time of war. Unlike traditional war films in Hindi cinema, where female characters are frequently relegated to the sidelines, Pippa portrays Radha as a proactive and indispensable force on the front lines. Radha defies stereotypes by actively participating in the war, using her cryptography skills to make real-time contributions to the battlefield.

Mrunal Thakur challenges herself:

Pippa has a special place in Mrunal Thakur’s heart. The script immediately captivated the actress, who was given the opportunity to play a strong, intelligent, and resourceful woman who played a pivotal role in the war narrative. Thakur expressed her joy at being a part of a film in which a female character is given a well-defined arc, challenging the traditional gender norms seen in war dramas.

Mrunal Thakur said of her character, “Radha is a character close to my heart. She exemplifies women’s resilience and strength, not only emotionally, but also intellectually. It was refreshing to see a female character actively involved in the war effort, contributing significantly through her expertise in cryptography. Pippa offers a unique perspective, and I am honoured to tell Radha’s story.” Pippa, directed by Raja Menon, has a strong narrative that is complemented by Mrunal Thakur’s outstanding performance.

On the work front, her acting career began with television soap operas. Yeh Khamoshiyaan and Kumkum Bhagya…Mujhse Kuchh Kehti. Thakur won the Indian Television Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for the latter. Currently, she is known for her performances in blockbuster films like Sita Raman, Jersey, and Gumraah.
