‘Miyan Magic’ -Fans ecstatic as Mohammed Siraj becomes number one ODI bowler in the World

Mohammed Siraj has been rising through the ranks in India colours and is now crowned the no. 1 bowler according to the rankings released by the cricket governing body. He has been one the most improved bowlers in recent months for the Men in Blue. In the ODI series against New Zealand, he picked up 5 wickets in two matches and also got 4-46 in his 10 overs at Hyderabad.

Just before this, Siraj picked up 9 wickets in three matches against Sri Lanka. He had also got 4-32 in the same series which was his best bowling figures in ODIs. He has learnt the trade and put in the hard yards. He possesses the eve tricks in his armory to deceive the batters. He has also been looked at as a bowler who can come in tough situations and bowl the crunch overs for India.

In the series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, he delivered crucial breakthroughs for the national side and is also seen as a go-to bowler for Rohit Sharma in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. He was not having the best of seasons at the Indian T20 League in 2020, but a magical spell against the Kolkata franchise changed his life.

He bowled two maidens in an over in an Indian T20 League encounter in that game and also dismissed Rahul Tripathi, Nitesh Rana and Tom Banton. He picked up 3-8 in that spell which was the most economical spell in Indian T20 League 2020 and his exhibition with the ball kept Kolkata down to just 84 in that game. Bangalore beat Kolkata by 8 wickets.

In 2021, on his first Test tour to Australia, he became the leader of the attack in the Brisbane Test having played just two Test matches under his belt. In the series that was played in Australia, He picked up 13 wickets in three Test matches that he played at an average of 29.53 with an economy rate of 2.85. In these 13 wickets, he also had a five-wicket haul to his credit.
