The Men in Blue will clash with neighbours Bangladesh in their fourth game of the 20-20 World Cup on October 2nd. Both teams still have a chance to get to the semi-final stage of the mega event. With the semi-final place still up for grabs, every team is expected to give their best and come up with a strong performance.

In a time when all teams are going into their next match with a positive mindset, Bangladesh’s all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s latest comments smell of a defeatist attitude.

“As I said in Bangla before, India is the favourite team, they came here to win the World Cup. We are not favourites, we didn’t come here to win the World Cup. We know very well that if we win against India, it will be called an upset. We will try to play our best cricket, “Shakib had said ahead of their World Cup match against India.

The comments have come as a shock to many fans who expected the Bangladesh captain to come up with a more positive approach ahead of an important game. Bangladesh sit at third position in the Group 2 points table with 4 points in 3 matches. They have a good chance of getting to the Semi-final if they defeat both India and Pakistan.

Many fans on Twitter were disappointed with Shakib’s comments and believed that it could dampen the mood of the team. Many however were also of the opinion that this was just a mind game from the Bangladesh captain and that the comment would remove all the pressure from Bangladesh players.

The game is equally important for India as they are still to mathematically qualify for the Semi-final. The Men in Blue have 4 points from 3 matches and would need to win one of two matches and have better NRR than Bangladesh to qualify for the semi-final. There is naturally a lot of intrigue on the match between India and Bangladesh as both teams are looking to take a huge step towards the semi-final with this win.
