India have been under fire for a long time for their conservative approach in limited-overs cricket. However, opener Ishan Kishan put that criticism to rest with his scintillating innings of 210 off 131 balls against Bangladesh in the third ODI. Courtesy of Kishan’s stupendous knock, India scored at over 8 runs per over throughout their innings. Impressed by Kishan’s innings, former England captain Michael Vaughan took to Twitter to appreciate his marvellous innings.

Vaughan took to Twitter and wrote, “This is the way to play one day cricket in this era India??? #BANvIND.”

In one of his articles for the leading English daily, The Telegraph, Vaughan had criticised India’s batting approach, calling them the ‘most underperforming white-ball team’ in the history of cricket.

“Since winning 50 over World Cup what have they done? Nothing. India are playing a white-ball game that is dated and have done for years. India are the most underperforming white-ball team in history. Every player in the world who goes to the Indian Premier League says how it improves their game but what have India ever delivered?” Vaughan had written.

Ishan Kishan scored the fasted double hundred in ODIs

Coming back to the match, India lost the opener, Shikhar Dhawan, early on in the innings on the score of 15. From there on Ishan Kishan was involved in a 290-run partnership with Virat Kohli for the second wicket off just 191 balls.  During the course of his innings, the 24-year-old became the youngest batter to score an ODI double hundred which was also the fastest ever coming in just 126 balls.

Kohli also ended his century drought in ODI cricket and surpassed the 100-run-mark on Saturday for the first time since 14th August 2019. The former Indian captain scored a magnificent 113 off 91 balls. Courtesy of Kishan’s and Kohli’s heroics, India posted a massive score of 409 in their allotted 50 overs.

In reply to India’s total Bangladesh got bundled out for 182 as India won the match by 226 runs and avoided a whitewash in the three-match series. The two teams will next play a two-match Test series starting on December 14th.
