‘Mere paas therapy ke paise nahi hain’- Pakistan cricket fans nervous after a low score of 137 against England in 20-20 World Cup Final
Pakistan went head-to-head against England in the 20-20 World Cup final on Sunday. The Babar Azam-led team were invited to put runs on the board first by Jos Buttler.
Coming onto bat first, the Pakistan team started off cautiously with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. While both batted exceptionally well in their last match against New Zealand, things were quite different this time around.
After Rizwan got out at 15, Pakistan’s batting started to crumble with Azam going back at 32 himself. Mohammad Haris also batted poorly and got out at just 8 runs. Left-hand batter Shan Masood held the innings in the middle but could not come up with a half-century knock as he got out at 38. Masood was the top scorer for the team.
All-rounder Shadab Khan played a good inning as well as he made 20 off of 14 to take Pakistan’s scoreboard past 130. Most of Pakistan’s batting however failed and the team could only make 137.
The score was deemed too small for a World Cup final in Melbourne Cricket Ground and many fans on social media were apprehensive. England chased down a score of 168 against India in just 16 overs without losing a wicket which would be a massive concern for the Pakistan side.
Raja Sohail Abbas of Pakistan wrote, “Runs on the board. Whatever the score, go out and defend with everything you’ve got. Pressure does funny things to people.”
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Pakistan’s low score:
Faltu mei partition karwaya, same hee toh khel rahe hai.

Its not an easy pitch to bat on. However with this total Pakistan have to pullout their best bowling performance of the World Cup #EngvsPak

Pakistan’s bowlers will need to produce a GOAT performance to defend this against this England batting lineup.
