Mayank Agarwal, India’s opener and Karnataka’s captain, was transported to a local hospital after feeling unwell just before his New Delhi-bound aircraft took departure on Tuesday, an act that startled the cricket fraternity as the player filed an official police report claiming foul play.

He is safe after sipping liquid from a pouch that he assumed was water, being kept on his seat while on board IndiGo Airlines. Through his management, Agarwal has filed a complaint.

“While he was seated on the aeroplane there was a bag in front of him his manager stated. He drank a little amount, but there was discomfort in his mouth, and he couldn’t communicate, so he was taken to ILS hospital. He experienced oedema and ulcers in his mouth. Otherwise, his body is steady,” when asked for more information, the policeman added.

Kiran Gitte, the state health secretary, stated “Police have acknowledged his allegation, and we will examine what happened. According to his management, he will fly to Bengaluru tomorrow; in the meanwhile, we will offer him with the best care possible in Agartala.”

However, Agarwal will not play in the next Ranji Trophy game against Railways in Surat. Nikin Jose, the team’s chosen vice-captain, is scheduled to take over as captain in the following match.
