Pakistan stumbled to their second successive loss in the ODI World Cup 2023 game on Friday. Australia dominated with the bat and ball as they won the game in Bengaluru to get their second win. The result was a whopping 62-run win for the five-time World Cup winners.

Pat Cummins and his team were asked to bat first after Babar Azam won the toss. The ground was electric fast and the pitch was conducive for good batting. The only thing that did not go Pakistan’s way was the fielding during the game.

Usama Mir made his way into the playing XI to make his ODI World Cup debut. The Australians had made no changes to their team which had won against Sri Lanka in the last game.

Pakistan falter in chase of 368 runs –

Abdullah Shafique and Imam Ul Haq added 134 runs for the opening wicket stand. The two batters had the Australian bowlers all at sea for nearly 22 over. Shafique in particular was aggressive during his knock of 64 runs from 61 balls before he was caught by Maxwell of Stoinis.

Imam Ul Haq next fell when he was batting on 70 to become the 2nd wicket for Stoinis. Adam Zampa then came into the attack to get the big wicket of Babar Azam for 18. Mohammad Rizwan tried to stage a fightback with a gritty innings of 46 runs but that was stubbed out very quickly.

Adam Zampa was the hero with the ball with figures of 4 for 53 from his ten overs. The Australian leg-spinner got the wickets of Iftikhar Ahmed for 26, and then Rizwan for 46. Mohammad Nawaz then became Zampa’s 4 wicket of the night.

The rest of the Pakistani batting crumbled once Mohammad Rizwan fell as none could put up a strong show. The Australians climbed into the top 4 of the table with a massive 62-run win on Friday.

David Warner and Mitchell Marsh scored centuries to help Australia post a massive 367/9 on the board. Warner scored 163 runs while Marsh hit his ODI-best score of 121 on the day of his 32nd birthday. Shaheen Afridi was the star with the ball with figures of 5/54 from his ten overs.
