‘Mandira Bedi ne Women’s cricket ka naam roshan kar diya’ – Fans ecstatic as Mandira Bedi anchors at Women’s T20 League

Mandira Bedi has been a pioneer in Women’s cricket. She has been a long-time presenter at the Cricket World Cups in 2003 and in 2007. She also hosted the Champions Trophy in 2004 and 2006. Bedi also hosted the Indian T20 League. She has also been a fashion designer. Now Bedi is presenting at the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 League.

Bedi has been a torchbearer of Women’s cricket, in a memorable incident, she let go of her endorsement fees in exchange for brands who could endorse Women’s cricket This incident happened in 2004. The Broadcasters in the 2002 Champions Trophy had got Ruby Bhatia who did not have the best understanding of the game. After the broadcasters realised the error they roped in Bedi for the 2003 World Cup.

Bedi had a better grasp of the game and changed the way broadcasting was done in India with the help of Set Max for the World events that were to follow. Later on the combination of Bedi and Set Max worked well in the inaugural edition of the Indian T20 League in 2008 as well. When it was learnt that she will be hosting the inaugural edition Women’s T20 league, the fans were very happy.

 Bedi had waived the entire part  of her modelling fees from a jewellery brand to raise money for Indian Women’s cricket in 2004. The popular television host was a part of a launch event of esteemed designer Gaurav Gupta’s store in Mumbai. In that event, Bedi had flaunted herself in a wonderful way by donning a stylish grey embellished gown, accessorised with a statement black handbag and minimal jewellery.

Bedi also help grow Indian Women’s cricket by getting sponsors thorough her personal capacity to aid the growth of women’s cricket. Due to her assistance India participated in the 2005 World Cup without any difficulties. They finished runners up in the tournament. That edition of the World Cup was organised in South Africa.
