Major League Cricket 2023: All you need to know about timings, schedule and teams

Lot of the MLC teams are backed by IPL owners.

America is about to embark on its cricketing revolution. The Major League Cricket (MLC) will be showcasing its inaugural season. America with this league is taking some baby steps into the cricketing horizon with its first major T20 league. The MLC begins on July 13. It will have six teams who will play 18 games. The grand final will be played on July 30.

What is Major League Cricket all about?

The MLC will help America stamp its footprint onto the cricketing world as the action-packed league gears up to stun American viewers. Many top Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises backing the tournament. It ensures the paychecks are very lucrative when it comes to the players’ point of view. The tournament has an initial investment of 120 Million USD. There are quite a few overseas players that will be playing in the tournament.

The likes of Faf du Plessis, Marcus Stoinis Aaron Finch and Trent Boult, Quinton de Kock and Jason Roy, are some of the noteworthy overseas names. The teams will go up against each other in a round-robin format. In the end, the top four teams will make it to the playoffs which will include Eliminator, Qualifier, Challenger, and the Finals.

When it comes to the overall squad, 16 players are the minimum and it can go up to 19. To help cricket in the USA grow and blossom. Each squad will need to keep an under-23 rookie player in the squad. Each team will have 9 international players along with 5 domestic cricketers. However, only up to six overseas players can play in the Starting XI.

What about the venues?

The Grand Prairie stadium situated in Texas and Church Street Park in North Carolina will host the games and the final will be played in Texas.
