After retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by winning two out of two Tests in the ongoing series against Australia, India lost the plot in the third game. In the third Test at Holkar Stadium in Indore, India lost wickets in quick succession and got bundled up for 109 runs after opting to bat first. In response, Australia also didn’t start well as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Travis Head to get India an early breakthrough.

Jadeja trapped Head in front of the wicket and dismissed him for 9 runs off 6 balls. This was Jadeja’s 500th international wicket and after grabbing that, he became the only second Indian player to score more than 5000 runs and get 500 wickets. Apart from him, this prestigious feat was only achieved by world cup winning captain Kapil Dev.

Notably, Ravindra Jadeja, in his international career, has scored 5527 runs while clinching 500 wickets. On the other hand, Kapil Dev has scored more than 9000 runs and has taken 687 wickets.

India in deep trouble at Holkar Stadium

India, after winning the toss, failed to read visiting spinners and got exposed. The team got bowled out for 109 runs in the post-lunch session. Former Captain, Virat Kohli and opener, Shubman Gill were the only two batters to score more than 20 runs. Kohli was the top scorer for the hosts as he added 22 runs off 52 balls.

Earlier, India and Australia both made two changes each in the playing XI. India dropped KL Rahul to bring in in-form batter Shubman Gill while Umesh Yadav replaced Mohammed Shami. Shami reportedly has been rested to manage his workload.

On the other hand, in the absence of skipper Pat Cummins, Steve Smith is leading the Aussies in the third Test. They made two changes and brought in Mitchell Starc and all-rounder Cameron Green.

Fans have reacted to Jadeja’s amazing bowling and called him the best all-rounder of the era.
