‘Mahi bhai jaldi se teekh hoke wapas aa jao’ – Fans react as MS Dhoni set to undergo surgery; eyes comeback in IPL 2024

MS Dhoni scripted history once again as he led Chennai Super Kings to their fifth IPL title. But it was not without a fair share of problems. The knee had troubled MS Dhoni throughout IPL 2023. In another bit of positive news, CSK CEO has confirmed that MS Dhoni will undergo knee surgery if required. The CSK CEO said that the final call will solely rest with MS Dhoni. CSK are now equal with Mumbai Indians in terms of IPL titles.

MS Dhoni had a hard season. Due to the knee issue, he used to come as low as number 7 in the batting order. While the injury did not cause much harm when he was behind the wickets, it was apparent when it came to batting. MS Dhoni found it easy to hit the big shots but found it hard to run the singles. The CSK skipper scored 104 runs in 17 games at a strike rate of 182.45.

“Yes, it is true that Dhoni will be taking medical advice for his left knee injury and accordingly decide. If surgery is advised, it can only be ascertained after reports come out, it will be completely his call,” The CSK Ceo said as quoted by News 18. MS Dhoni will consult orthopaedics in Mumbai before deciding to undertake surgery. The CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan further said that they have no intention of parting ways with MS Dhoni as of now. If MS Dhoni calls it quits, then it can free up to 15 crores in CSK’s auction purse.

“Frankly, we are not even thinking along those lines as we haven’t reached that stage. It will be completely Dhoni’s call. But I can tell you in CSK, we haven’t entertained those thoughts,” Kasi added. “It’s all about team spirit and every player knowing his role which is very well defined in our set-up.  This has been possible because of our captain,” The CSK Ceo said talking about the culture at the franchise.
